Ionia girls varsity soccer battled tough Tuesday night on the road vs Portland and ended with a 0-0 draw. It was a very defensive heavy battle with both teams having opportunities to finish. Neither team could put anything in the back of the net and both teams would leave with a blank sheet.
Alexa Barna and Kelila Rustin generated numerous chances on the offensive end. Tessa Masengale continues to make an impact throughout the entirety of the field. The defensive line of Josie Lee, Mimose Sandborn, and Katie Leonard were able to hold Portland scoreless, and Kaylynn Doty would record the shutout in goal.
Ionia varsity soccer record sits at 2-2-1, and will take on Lakeview Thursday at home with a 7:00 kickoff.
