Thursday evening in Lansing led to hotly contested CACC White tennis match up with Lansing Catholic High School. The girls competed at every flight with Kate Brown winning 1st Singles in three sets 6-2,3-6,6-1. The 2nd doubles team of Camryn Robinson and Amelia Griffith won in straight sets 7-5 7-5! 

This week on Tuesday we will recognize our seniors in our match against Hastings starting at 3:45 with the match to follow.

Tough night for the girls tonight both at home, Junior Varsity, and away, Varsity. 

JV took on Portland tonight and lost 6-1. Winner for the JV were the doubles team of Tessa Nash and Chloe Zander by a score of 8-5.

Varsity traveled to Portland for a league match up and lost 7-1. Our winner, at fourth singles was Saki Takeda by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Our first and second doubles teams competed very well but lost close matches.

We head out on the road Thursday to Lansing Catholic and another league match.

In a hard fought match tonight, the Ionia Girl's Tennis Team lost to Eaton Rapids by a score of 3-5. Margaret Pischea, Avelin McGuire and Saki Takeda won 2nd-4th singles pacing the team.

At doubles,  Katelyn Weber and  Mariya Berry fell just short of tying the match in three sets.

The Ionia Girl's Varsity Tennis Team traveled to Lansing Eastern High School Friday night to compete against the Quakers. The ladies continued our winning ways, coming out on top 7-1 in what ended a very long week of competition.

Leading the way were Seniors Katherine Brown and Saki Takeda at 1st and 3rd singles while all 4 doubles teams won in straight sets! The teams of Tessa Lemke and Audrey Wall swept 1st doubles 6-3, 6-3 and Katelyn Weber and Mariya Berry won 6-3, 6-3 as well.

Our record improves to 7-0, 1-0 on the season. Next match is at home on Tuesday 4/23/24 @ 4:00 vs. Eaton Rapids

The IHS Varsity Girl's Tennis Team continued to play with GRIT!!! Led by seniors Kate Brown at 1st singles (6-2;6-0) and Saki Takeda at 4th singles (6-1;6-0) The Bulldogs swept the singles positions and only dropped one match overall, first doubles. The ladies will take on Lansing Eastern on Friday 4/19@4:00. 

Varsity is now 6-0 1-0 in the league and JV is 2-0!!

Big win for the Ionia Varsity Girls Tennis team as we traveled to Lansing Everett for a dual meet. The team was again paced by junior Margaret Pischea who won 6-0, 6-0, and Saki Takeda who won by the same score. Doubles were led by Tessa Lemke and Abella Woodard with a 6-2,6-0 win and Freshmen Amelia Griffith and Lila Redder who won 6-2, 6-2. Other winners for the Bulldogs at singles were Katherine Brown and Avelin McGuire, and at doubles Lamphere and Robinson and Weber and Berry won.

The ladies are now 5-0 on the season, 0-0 in the league.

This weekend, the Ionia Girl’s Varsity Tennis Team traveled to the Lakewood invitational and came away, victorious with 19 points!

Leading the way at singles were junior, Margaret Pischea and senior Saki Takeda both going 3-0 at 2nd and 4th singles. Doubles were paced by Tessa Lemke and Audrey wall who tied for 1st place at 1st doubles with a record of 2-1 and, Camryn Robinson and Ellie Lamphere who took first going 3-0.

The ladies will be on the road three times this week.

• Tuesday 4-16 at Lansing Everett(match played at Lansing Eastern 4:30 start

• Thursday 4-18 at Lakewood 4:00 start

• Friday 4-19 at Lansing Eastern 4:00

The Varsity team improves to 4-0 

Varsity Girls defeated Waverly last night 8-0 in our first match of the season on our new tennis courts. All the girls performed well! Sophomore Avelin McGuire led the way at 3rd singles with a 6-0;6-0 win. At doubles, freshmen Lila Redder and Amelia Griffith led the way with a 6-0; 6-1 win. 

JV also defeated Waverly 4-1 with Trinity Scofield leading the way at singles with an 8-0 win and Grace Clark and Gigi Freire-DeAlmeida with an 8-0 victory at doubles. 

Thanks to the student fans who came out last night, it was appreciated! 

The girls will be back in action on Thursday at Fowlerville.
