Ionia Middle School Wrestling team traveled to Lansing Waverly to wrestle in their final event of the season.After not winning a dual meet all year, the Bulldogs beat Haslett 36-26 and then beat Waverly 30-24. Winning both matches on the night were Lorenzo Lopez, Bradley Thomas, Jay Dornbos and Cody Waterman. Other wrestlers picking up a win were Conrad Woltuis, Ashton Lemke, Emmitt Smith Owen Yocom and Kiley Sivertsen. The middle school athletes worked hard the last 3 weeks and the inprovement shined thru,hopefully to carry their skills into next season

Ionia Middle School Wrestling team traveled to St. Johns Thursday evening for a double dual against Williamston and St. Johns.Althoughionia was unable to win either meet, they had 3wrestlers go 2-0 on the night, Ashton Lemke, Owen Yocom and Jay Dornbos. Also winning a match were Conrad Woltuis and KileySivertsen. Ionia will end their season next Wednesday with a double dual.

Ionia Middle School Hosted a double dual wrestling meet Tuesday evening against Portland and Dewitt.AlthoughIonia didn't win either meet they came thru with alot of team work and spirit. Winning matches were Conrad Woltuis, Ashton Lemke,Lorenzo Lopez, Brock Shattuck, Riley Sivertsen and Ella Hyland. Ionia will be back in action next Thursday when the Bulldogs travel to St. Johns. Wrestling will start at 4:30

Ionia Middle School Wrestling team Traveled to Grand Ledge Friday evening in a tournament. Although almost half the team was out with sickness, Ionia turned in the best performance all year. Ella Hyland went undefeated for the Bulldogs. Lorenzo Lopez and Bradley Thomas won two matches. Others winning a match were Conrad Woltuis, Ashton Lemke, Wade Charon, Jordan Shattuck,and Jay Dornbos. Ionia will compete next on Wednesday evening at home starting at 4:30

Ionia Middle School wrestling team traveled to Holt Tuesday evening for a double dual against Holt and Lakewood. Ionia havingonly two wrestlers from their 2023 season lost both matches. Lorenzo Lopez won both of his matches tonight. Other wrestlers with a win were Conrad Woltuis, Ashton Lemke and Jay Dornbos. Illnesses are taking their toll alsowith 7 Ionia wrestlers missing from the meet. Ionia will travel Friday evening to wrestle in at tournament at Grand Ledge with wrestling starting at 4:30.
Five IMS Wrestlers Earn Medals at Annual IMS Bulldog Team Duals

Ionia Middle School hosted its annual eight team Bulldog Team Wrestling Duals Friday evening. Out of eight schools Ionia was unable to win any duals but ended with 3 undefeated wrestlers.
Royce Nunez, Brock Shattuck and Jay Dornbos went undefeated earning gold medals. Conrad Woltuis and Lorenzo Lopez only lost once earning silver medals. Other wrestlers with a win were Ashton Lemke, Tylan Daniel, Dakota Badder and Zach Keller.
Ionia will travel to Holt Tuesday evening for a double dual, withwrestling to start at 4:30.

Ionia Middle School Wrestling team traveled to Olivett Tuesday evening for a double dual. Ionia lost to Olivett 52-21 and then lost to Fowlerville 51-24. Ashton Lemke, Owen Yocom, Kiley Sivertsen and Jay Dornbos went undefeated on the night. Ionia will host a team tournament Friday evening at the high School starting at 5 pm.
MS Wrestling Results From Charlotte Double Dual

Ionia Middle school Wrestling team traveled to Charlotte Tuesday evening for a double dual meet against Charlotte and Eaton Rapids. The Bulldog grapplers fought hard but came up short in both matches.
Scoring for Ionia were Wade Charon and Zayne Mills-Huhn who won both of their matches on the night. While no one else scored a victory we gained valuable experience against quality opponents.
Ionia will travel to Olivet Middle School next Tuesday for another double dual starting at 4:30, before hosting its annual Bulldog team dual on Friday evening at Ionia High School.
Middle School Wrestlers Open the Season With Strong Showing

The Ionia Middle School wrestling team started it’s season off Friday night at the Lakewood Invitational bringing home 3 medals.
Medal winners included Conrad Woltuis first place finish, Wyatt Johnson second place finish, and Royce Nunez third place finish.
Placing 5th for the Bulldogs were Zayne Mills-Huhn, Brock Shattuck and Owen Yocom.
Winning a match but not placing were Ashton Lemke and Bradley Thomas.
This was the first wrestling meet for several Ionia athletes. Over all the young team showed a lot of aggresiveness and look forward to much sucsess the rest of the year.
Ionia will travel to Charlotte Tuesday evening for a double dual starting at 4:30
