Ionia girls varsity soccer team had the offense clicking on all cylinders tonight, as we put up 8 goals in an 8-3 victory over Charlotte on Tuesday night. Ionia would start slow, struggling to finish chances, and getting a feel for the game. Our defense was holding real solid through the first 20 minutes. 

Kelila Rustin would break the game open with a goal 15 minutes into the game. Charlotte would score 2 goal in the next few minutes to take the momentum back. The game would hold like this for some time until the 10 minute mark, things started to click for Ionia. 4 goals would be scored in the next 10 minutes to go into halftime leading 5-2. Second half would be no different for the bulldogs, keeping the pressure, and putting in more goals.

Kelila Rustin would have a MONSTER GAME, scoring 5 goals, and adding an assist to the stat line. Alexa Barna would add 2 more goals, and Addyson Roundtree would score one of her own. Tessa Masengale and Natalia Magallon each recorded an assist on the night. On the defensive side, Isabelle Vasquez shut down Charlottes transition offense all night, and Josie Lee made play after play out on the wing.

Ionia varsity improves to 3-6-2 on the season and will play a back to back as we travel to Lansing Waverly for a 7:00 kickoff.
