Girls Varsity Basketball Falls to Hastings in First Round of Districts

The bulldogs lost a tough game in the first round of districts against Hastings 36-52. Jessa Swinehart had 10 points and 9 rebounds. Aubree White added 9 points and 2 rebounds. Rajalyaj Esquivel played outstanding defense and had 6 points and 4 rebounds. Melayna Braman added 5 points and 4 rebounds. Josie Phelps also had great defense and chipped in 3 points and had 5 rebounds. The bulldogs end their season 11-9.

The lady dawgs had a big win tonight against Fowlerville 66-49 in the Ionia Middle School gym. This was the first varsity game played at this gym since 1988-89. It was a great atmosphere for our seniors last game. Leading scorers were Jessa Swinehart And Melayna Braman with 19 points each. Swinehart had 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Braman had 5 three pointers, 10 rebounds and 2 steals. Josie Phelps had 11 points and 2 rebounds. Aubree White had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Rajalyaj Esquivel had 5 points. Londyn Brown and Brynn Reams both added 2 points. The girls final season game is Friday, February 25 at Lansing Catholic at 5:00 p.m.

Alexias Daugherty had 4 points and 2 rebounds. They are now 10-6 overall and 3-4 in the league. The lady dawgs are back in action on Friday, February 18 at 5:30 playing against Gr. Ledge at home.

Aubree White chipped in 4 points. The Bulldogs are now 4-3 and will travel to Charlotte on Friday, January 7 for a big league game starting at 5:30 p.m.

The bulldogs travel to P-W on Monday, December 20 playing at 7:00.

The Ionia Girls Varsity improved their record to 3-1 with a win against Lakewood. The score was 50-41. The bulldogs struggled in the first half going into the locker room down by 2. The Bulldogs came out strong the second half and was lead by Melayna Braman sinking 3 three pointers and finishing the game with 17 points. Brynn Reams also played a strong half adding another 13 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Aubree White added 5 points and Jessa Swinehart and Rajalyaj Esquivel both adding 4 points each. Bulldogs are back in a action here in Ionia on Friday, December 17 at 5:30 playing against the raiders of Portland.

Bulldogs came out with another big win tonight against Eaton Rapids. Bringing home their first league win of the season. Leading the way was Brynn Reams with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. She got help from Melayna Braman who added 9 points and 5 rebounds. Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Josie Phelps and Aubree White with 6 points each. Jessa Swinehart pulled down 6 rebounds and Rajahelia Esquivel had 4 steals. They are now 2-1 and play again on Tuesday, December 14 at home at 5:30 taking on the Lakewood Vikings.
