Boys Middle School Cross Country vs. DeWitt Junior High School

The IMS boys cross country team traveled to DeWitt on Monday night to compete in the Greater Lansing Junior CC Championship. This meet consists of two separate races, one that includes the top 10 runners from each team, followed by an Open Boys Run.
In the Top 10 boys race Ionia finished in 18th place out of 26 teams. Liam Thelen paced the way for the Bulldogs, finishing in 13th place (11:35.0 PR). Liam has been working hard all season to get under 12 minutes and he completed that goal tonight. He was followed by Cooper Highlen (99-13:17.5 PR), Bryce Schattuck (126-13:40.1 PR), Xander Towery (144 -13:56.7 PR).
In the Open Boys race Jacob Shattuck had an outstanding run placing 89th 15:14.5 (PR). Jude Calley was not far behind coming in 152 (16:33.1 – PR). Bentley Decker 162 (16:48.3 PR).
Great Season!!! GO BULLDOGS!!!

Ionia Middle School boys’ team participated in the Saranac Color Run on Tuesday night at Saranac Community Schools. Lansing Area Catholic won the competition with 46 points, followed by Laingsburg taking 2nd (61), Saranac 3rd (67), Hastings 4th (94), Ionia 5th (127), Webberville 6th (151), Fowler 7th (181), and Morrice 8th (214).
Boys finishing in the top 20 received a medal, Liam Thelen came in 6th with an outstanding time 12:11.8.
Other strong performances included Cooper Highlen 23th (13:36.9), Owen Yokom 33rd (13:59.9), Bryce Shattuck 39th (14:26.3), Orion Nervig 45th (14:34.2), Xander Towery 47th (14:35.4), Talon Thompson 51th (14:48.5.), Jude Calley 66th (15.45.2), Jacob Shattuck 68th (15:49.3), Jackson Triewieler 77th (16:42.7), Bentley Decker 81th (17:33.8), Noah Valentine 83rd (19:10.08), Jackson Fuller 84th (19:24.8).
The Bulldogs will finish their season next Monday Oct 16th at the JR. Greater Lansing Cross Country Championship.

The Ionia Middle School boys cross country team traveled to St Johns on Monday, October 2nd to compete against St. Johns (1st – 39 points), Olivet (2nd – 52 points), Grand Ledge (3rd – 72 points), and Ionia (4th – 76 points), Mason (5th – 86 points).
The boys had a great run Monday – Liam Thelen (3) 12:0.85, Cooper Highlen (13) 13:59.7, Bryce Shattuck (18) 14:10.70
The boys will be travel to Saranac on Tuesday 10th to run in the Color Run.

The boys cross country team had a successful night at the Parkside Invitational in Jackson. The Parkside Invitational runs differently than most other invites, as athletes only compete against other athletes in the same grade. In order to earn a medal, an athlete had to finish in the top 20 of their race. We had some strong performance from the boys, with 1 earning a medal and other boys reaching the goal of a new PR. Below are the times for each of runner:
7th Grade : scoring 167 (5th) – Jacob Shattuck 15: 34.47 (PR), Jude Calley 15:39.4 (PR), Bentley Decker 16:28.8 (PR), Jackson Trierweiler 16:24.9 (PR).
8th Grade: scoring 112 (5th place out of 7 teams) – Liam Thelen had an outstanding night placing 7th (12:09.64), Cooper Highlen 13:45.1 (PR), Owen Yokom 13:45.01 (PR), Bryce Shattuck 13:56.3 (PR), Fitgerald Alfrao – Rodrigues 14:08.04 (PR), Talon Thompson 15:02.7 (PR).
The next competition for the Bulldogs will be on Monday, October 2nd in St. Johns.

The Ionia Middle School boy’s cross-country team ran against Charlotte and Waverly at Country Mill Orchard and Cider Mill. The team took 1st scoring 23 point and Waverly scoring 37. Liam Thelen came in 1st with a new PR, 12:00.34. Not was not the only PR of the night for the boys’ team, Xander Towery (5th) 13:51.91. Cooper Highlen (6th) 13:52.34, Orion Nervig (7th) 13:58.34, Bryce Shattuck (8th) 13:59.12, Owen Yokom (9th) 14:03.22, Talon Thompson (12th) 15:06.91, Jackson Fuller (13th) 15:15.34, Jacob Shattuck (16th) 15:43.84, Jude Calley (17th) 15:46.06, Fitgerald Alfrao – Rodrigues (18th) 15:54.53, Jackson Triewieler (19th) 16:26.53, Bentley Decker (20th) 16:52.50, Noah Valentine (21st) 17:19.94.

Middle School Boys XC team had away meet at Holt against Williamston (26), Holt (63), Lakewood (64). The team ran a great race and took 4th with a score of 86. Liam Thelen came in 4th overall with a time of 12:23.04 (PR). Cooper Highlen came in 18th overall with a PR of 14:10.18. Talon Thompson (33rd) is having an outstanding season with another PR 15.23.07. The boys will now focus on their next meet against Waverly, Charlotte, and Haslett on 9/26/23 at Charlotte 5pm.

The Ionia Middle School XC team had an away meet at Olivet against, Okemos (36), Olivet (48), Eaton Rapids (68), Ionia (89), and Fowlerville (146). The team did an outstanding job with Liam Thelen coming in 4th (12:49.75), Cooper Highlen 21st (14:18.38), and Owen Yokom 27th (14:38.09). Jude Calley had an amazing run ending up with a time of 17:45.18, new PR for the season. The next time the boys will run will be Monday 9/18 at Holt. Go Bulldogs!!

The Ionia Middle School XC team played host to Lansing Area Catholic (30), DeWitt (33), Portland (89), and Ionia scorning (91). The team did an outstanding job with Liam Thelen placing 9th (13:13), Bryce Shattuck placing 24th (14:28.9), and Owen Yokom placing 27th (14:33.2). The boys will be back in action on Wednesday September 13th at Olivet at 5pm. Go Bulldogs.
