Girls Middle School Cross Country vs. DeWitt Junior High School

The IMS girls cross country team traveled to DeWitt on Monday night to compete in the Greater Lansing Junior CC Championship. This meet consists of two separate races, one that includes the top 10 runners from each team, followed by an Open Girls Run.
In the Top 10 girls race Ionia finished in 12th place out of 25 teams. Fionia Sizemore paced the way for the Bulldogs, finishing in 54th place (13:34.7 PR). She was followed by Jovie Overkamp (56th-13:45.1), Khloe Mathis (111th-15:00.7 PR), MacAnna Esparza (113th-15:01.3 PR), Lydia French (201-18:46.6 PR), and Vesper Nervig (202 – 18.48.2 PR).
In the Open Girls race Reegan Haynes had an outstanding run placing 68th 16:58.1 (PR). Charlotte Whitney was not far behind coming in 106 (18:43.8 – PR). Emma Bledsoe 130 (20:02.8 PR),

Ionia Middle School girls’ team participated in the Saranac Color Run on Tuesday night at Saranac Community Schools. Lansing Area Catholic won the competition with 21 points, followed by Ionia taking 2nd (66), Laingsburg 3rd (84), Hastings 4th (101), Saranac 5th (104), and Fulton 6th (142).
Girls finishing in the top 20 received a medal, Fiona Sizemore finishing 6th with a PR 14:01.01, Jovie OverKamp 7th 14:02.7 with a new PR, and Winnie Udell coming in 9th 14:14.2 with an outstanding new PR.
Other strong performances included Aubrey Perez 24th (15:35.3), Khloe Mathis 27th (15:40.6), MacAnna Esparza 29th (15:53.0), Reengan Haynes 56th (18:07.02), Sophia Brown 57th (18:10.07), Evelyn Kleibush 58th (18:27.6), Vesper Nervig 61th (18:55.1), Lydia French 62nd (18:55.4), Charlotte Whitney 66th (19:24.7), Emma Bledose 75th (21:11.5), Tatum Koenig 76th (21.12.3), Arleigha Bailiff 89th (26:03.6), Mikayla David 90th (26:16.6).
The Bulldogs will finish their season next Monday Oct 16th at the JR. Greater Lansing Cross Country Championship.

The Ionia Middle School girls cross country team traveled to St Johns on Monday, October 3rd to compete against Mason (1st – 31 points), Olivet (2nd – 63 points), Grand Ledge (3rd – 64 points), St. Johns (4th – 78), and Ionia (5th – 89)
The girls had a great run Monday - Fiona Sizemore (11) 15:16.29, and Winnie Udell (15) 15:51.87, MacAnna Esparza (23) 16:34.15.
The girls will be travel to Saranac on Tuesday 10th to run in the Color Run.
Girls Middle School Cross Country vs. Middle School at Parkside

The girls cross country team had a successful night at the Parkside Invitational in Jackson. The Parkside Invitational runs differently than most other invites, as athletes only compete against other athletes in the same grade. In order to earn a medal, an athlete had to finish in the top 20 of their race. We had some strong performance from the girls, with 3 earning a medal and other girls reaching the goal of a new PR. Below are the times for each of runner:
6th Grade: scoring 147 (7th) – MacAnna Esparza 15:35.38 (PR), Sophia Brown 17:27.9 (PR).
7th Grade : An incredible race for Jovie Overkamp placing 10th (14:11.06 - PR), and Winne Udell coming in 11th (14:20.57 - PR) and Aubrey Perez placing 25th (15:15.3 - PR).
8th Grade: Fiona Sizemore had an outstanding night placing 12th (14:23.87). Evelyn Kleibush had a goal to PR and she reached that by coming in 34th (17:34.34 – PR).
The next competition for the Bulldogs will be on Monday, October 2nd in St. Johns.

Middle School Girls XC team had away meet at Holt against Holt, Williamston, and Lakewood. It with a close meet with Ionia and Williamston taking 1st (43), Holt 3rd (58), and Lakewood 4th (79). Going into the meet the girls knew they have to give it everything to win, and they did. Jovie Overkamp (3rd – 14:47.16) and Winnie Udell (4th – 14:50.41) ran an outstanding race pushing each other to the finish. Khloe Mathis came in 9th with a PR 15:51.39. Lydia French (25th – 19.01.76) had a goal to PR tonight and she completed that goal. The Bulldogs will focus on their training now for the next meet (9/26/23) against Waverly, Charlotte, and Haslett at Charlotte at 5pm.

The Ionia Middle School girl’s cross-country team ran against Charlotte and Waverly at Country Mill Orchard and Cider Mill. The team took 1st scoring 21 point and Waverly scoring 38. Fiona Sizemore ran an outstanding race coming in 1st (13:17.91) with a new PR. The Ionia Middle School XC team had an away meet at Olivet against, Olivet (50), Okemos (54), Fowlerville (71), Ionia (73), and Easton Rapids (100). The team did an outstanding job with Fiona Sizemore coming in 6th (14:17.31), Jovie Overkamp 9th (14:41.50), and Winnie Udell 12th (15:27.78). Emma Bledsoe had an amazing run ending up with a time of 21:36.22, new PR for the season. The next time the girls will run will be Monday 9/18 at Holt. Go Bulldogs!!

The Ionia Middle School XC team played host to DetWitt (20), Lansing Area Catholic (42), Ionia (75) and Portland (107). The team did an outstanding job with Fiona Sizemore placing 14th (15:00.1), Jovie Overkamp placing 18th (15:19.5) and Winnie Udell placing 21th (15:55.8). The girls will be back in action on Wednesday September 13th at Olivet at 5pm. Go Bulldogs.
