Ionia comes up just short at the MHSAA division 2 individual districts. Unfortunately Ionia did not have any wrestlers make it to the finals at districts bringing the bulldogs season to an end.  A lot of tough wrestling by the bulldogs today including 2 wrestlers who made it the the consolation semi finals or otherwise known as the blood round. Senior Carter Meyers at 171 lost to his oppenent from Byron Center 6-3 . Junior Aidan Clute at 285 lost to his opponent  from Middleville by pin fall in the 2nd period. The bulldogs season is over and we are incredibly proud of the season we had this year and all the hard work and improvements the team has shown this year. 

Ionia Varsity wrestling falls short to East Grand Rapids at the MHSAA team districts 39-9 . Freshman Ethan Bowen at 125 got the bulldogs started with a dominating win over his opponent  9-2. Senior Carter Meyers at 171 also earned a win tonight by forfeit. The bulldogs finish their season as a team with 7 wins and 11 losses. Ionia will be back on the mat Saturday to wrestle individual districts at lowell high school wrestling starts at 9:30. 

Ionia High School wrestling team had a busy weekend sending a JV squad of 4 wrestlers friday night to fowlerville. Ethan Bowen, Nate Clute, and Tytan Proctor all won one match. Chris Smith went 2-0 and took 1st place in his weight class at the CAAC jv invitational.  Ionia's Varsity  team then traveled to Williamston to compete in the first ever CAAC Red & White wrestling tournament. Ionia took 6 wrestlers to the tournament all 6 wrestlers placed in the top 6. Daniel Webster, Blake Ledesma and Killian Campbell all placed 6th. Aidan Clute placed 4th at 215 . Carter Meyers and Brandon Grant both placed 3rd.  In the CAAC White division out of our six wrestlers five wresters became all confrence today and one honorable mention. Blake Ledesma placed 1st at the 112 pound weight class in the white division. Aidan clute at 215 and Brandon Grant at 285 placed 2nd in the white division. Carter Meyers at 171 and Daniel Webster at 145 both placed 3rd in the white division. All 5 wrestlers earning all-conference status.  Killian Campbell placed 4th at 125 making him honorable mention all-conference.

Ionia varsity wrestling wrestled at Charlotte tonight in the last conference dual of the regular season falling short with a final score of 58-21. Ethan Bowen had an exciting victory in overtime winning his bout 8-6 in sudden victory. Senior Carter Meyers returning to the mat with a big win by pin at 171 pound weight class. Aidan Clute and Chris Smith both recieved forfeits getting 2 wins for the team tonight. Ionia will be back on the mat this weekend JV wrestling at Fowlerville on friday with a 5:00 pm start time and Varsity will be wrestling at Williamston Saturday at the CAAC league championships with a 9:00 am start time.   

Ionia wrestled at a huge individual wrestling tournament today at Battle Creek Central High school. There were 22 teams at this tournament with over 40 ranked wrestlers competing today. Ionia brought 8 wrestler to the tournament and 4 out of the 8 placed. Brandon Grant at 285 and Daniel Webster at 145 both placed 8th. Zachary Negrete at 171 and Killian Campbell at 125 both placed 7th. Ionia's Paige Campbell will be wrestling tomorrow  at Adrain College in the 2nd ever MHSAA Girls wrestling state finals. The rest of the bulldogs will be back on the mat Wedensday at Charlotte.

The Ionia Varsity Wrestling team went 2-0 at Perry, Starting the night out with a win against Perry 42-15 then the bulldogs wrestled Bendle and won 39-15.  Wrestlers going 2-0 on the night were Blake Ledesma at 119, Ethan Bowen at 130, Daniel Webster at 145, Carter Meyers at 171, Aidan Clute at 215 and Brandon Grant at 285. Also earning a win on the night were wrestlers Killian Campbell, Zachary Negrete, Nate Clute, and Chris Smith. The bulldogs will be back on the mat Saturday at Battle Creek Central High School

Ionia Varsity wrestling team went 1-2 at the Lansing Sexton duals Friday night. The Bulldogs defeated Sexton 44-24 and lost to Eastern 54-21 and Marshall 44-24 . Ionia had 10 wrestlers competing tonight giving up 5 voids worth 30 points and forcing the Bulldogs to play catch up all night. Chris Smith had an opportunity to wrestle 2 matches tonight and won both of them. Paige Campbell, Ethan Bowen, and Nate Clute all had a win tonight. Going 2-1 were wrestlers Blake Ledesma, Daniel Webster, Demetri Davis, Aidan Clute and Brandon Grant. Freshman Killian Campbell went 3-0 with 2 wins by fall against Sexton and Lansing Eastern and a win by decion against Marshall. Ionia will be back on the mat Wednesday at Perry. 

Ionia falls to Portland 70-6. Ionia had one bulldog with a win for the team Aidan Clute took a void at heavey weight earning the team 6 points. Wrestling some tough matches were Killian Campbell, Christian Negrete, and Demetri Davis. All 3 wrestlers lost there matches but only by points saving the team 8 total team points. Ionia will be back on the mat this Friday at Sexton wrestling starts at 4:00

Ionia had 3 JV wrestlers medal at the Lakeview JV Invite on Friday night. Chris Smith 2nd place Christian Negrete 2nd place Ethan Bowen 3rd place The varsity wrestlers will head to Lakeview tomorrow for the varsity invite.

Ionia High School wrestling team has a big win over Lansing Sexton 45-18. Ionia's Daniel Webster had a very exciting match at 152 Daniel won by decision in the 3rd overtime 11-7. Ionia had seven wrestlers win by pin including Blake Ledesma at 119, Killian Campbell at 125, Ethan Bowen at 130 , Christian Negrete at 135, Demetri Davis at 160, Zachary Negrete at 189 and Brandon Grant at 285.  The Bulldogs are now 1-1 in the Conference, and 4-6 overall as a team so far this season. The bulldogs will be back on the mat this weekend at Lakeview High School.

Ionia falls to Eaton Rapids in the bulldogs first conference match up of the year. The Bulldogs lost to a very experienced Eaton Rapids team 76-0 tonight. Eaton Rapids is currently ranked 5th in the state this year as a team. Ionia will be wrestling again this weekend at Durand High School 

Ionia High School Wrestling team took the mat again today at Hastings High school.  Ionia placed 6th as a team today with 6 wrestlers coming home with medals placing in the top 4. Demetri Davis took 4th place at the 160 and Killian Campbell placed 3rd  at 125 . The bulldogs had 4 wrestlers in the finals, Blake Ledesma at 112  and Ethan Bowen at 130 both placed 2nd.  Ionia had two Champions Carter Meyers at the 171 pound weight class and Aidan Clute at 285 pound weight class. Ionia will be back on the mat Wednesday at Eaton Rapids.

The Ionia high school wrestling team competed in Ionia at the 22nd Annual Mike Adamson Invitational. Ionia had 10 wrestlers competing today, five of the ten finished in the top 4 and brought home medals. Blake Ledesma went 3-2 on the day taking 4th place.  Daniel Webster went 4-1 and Zachary Negrete went 3-1 both placing 3rd.  Senior Carter Meyers placed 2nd at 189 pound weight class. Junior Aidan Clute won the tournament at 285 going 5-0 and bringing home a first place medal. Great wrestling by everyone. Ionia will be back on the mat next week Saturday Jan. 4th at Hastings High School. 

Ionia wrestles tough but falls just short tonight with 2 losses at Ovid-Elsie. Ionia losses a close one to O-E to start the night 31-36, again coming down to the last match. Then lossing to Birchrun 30-50. Wrestlers going 2-0 on the night are Junior Zachary Negrete , and Senior Carter Meyers. The bulldogs will be back on the mat Saturday  Dec. 28th at Ionia for our annual Mike Adamsom invitational. 

Ionia places 3rd at Delton Kellogg team tournament today. Going 2-2 on the day Ionia had a nice win against Berrien Springs 60-9, and a win over Parchment 35-24. The bulldogs had 2 losses on the day both coming down to the last match with a loss to Paw Paw 34-39 and a loss to Delton 36-42. Ionia had 4 wrestlers go 3-1 on the day Blake Ledesma, Arturo Oliveros, Ethan Bowen, and Shawn Bongard. The bulldogs also had one wrestler go 4-0 on the day that is Carter Meyers. The bulldogs will be back on the mat Wednesday Dec. 18th at Ovid Elsie High school. 

Varsity Wrestling team starts the season with a big win over Marshall 45-36. Then fell just short against Sturgis with 30-48 being the final  score.  A couple bulldogs going 2-0 on the night are Daniel Webster at 152 pound weight class, Carter Meyers at 215 pound weight class, and Aidan Clute at 285 pound weight class. Overall great performance tonight the bulldogs will be back on the mat this Saturday were we will be wrestling at the Delton-Kellogg Team tournament.
