Ionia's Girls Varsity wrestlers traveled to Cadillac today to compete in the MHSAA regionals. Unfortunately both of our girls made it all the way to the blood round and came up just short from placing in the top 4. Natalie Fassett went 0-2. and Sarah Schafer went 1-2. Both girls are only sophomores, we are so excited to see what the future hold for our girls. This brings our high school wrestling season to an end. 

Ionia Traveled to Lowell today to compete in the MHSAA individual regionals. Unfortunately, both of our Ionia wrestlers lost today bringing our boys season to an end. Senior Nathan Clute went 0-2 today wrestling the #1 & #10 ranked wrestlers in the state. Nate ended his season with a record of 32 wins and 13 losses. Senior Killian Campbell went 1-2 today with a loss in the first round to the #11 ranked wrestler in the state by 2 points, Then Killian won by Tech fall vs Greenville, and then lost in the blood round to the #6 ranked wrestler in the state. Killian ended his season with a record of 32 wins and 10 losses.  We are all so proud of these young men and their accomplishments this season and through out the last 4 years. Ionia will travel to Cadillac tomorrow for the MHSAA Girls only Regionals. 

Ionia traveled to Hastings today to compete in the MHSAA  Individual Districts. Ionia had 2 wrestlers place in the top 4 qualifying them to move onto regionals. Senior Killian Campbell took 2nd place at 144lbs, and Senior Nathan Clute took 4th place at 165 lbs. Wrestlers Jackson Gallagher, and Chase Holford both went 1-2 today losing there last match in the blood round. Hunter Barker went 2-2 today also falling just short in the blood round. Boys Regionals will be next Saturday at Lowell High School. 

Ionia had the opportunity to host team districts tonight against #1 ranked Lowell and #8 ranked Hastings. Ionia drew Lowell to wrestle in the 1st round of districts; we lost to Lowell 74-6. Senior Chris Smith at heavy weight came in with a big win with a 2nd period pin. With that loss, it brings Ionia's dual season to an end with a record of 12 wins and 10 losses. Ionia will travel to Hastings this Saturday to compete in the individual districts. Wrestling starts at 9:30am!  The Ionia Wrestling program would like to thank everyone that came out tonight to support us and throughout the season. Also, a big thank you to the volunteers and workers tonight who made the event run as smooth as possible. 

Ionia Traveled to the Don Johnson Field house in Lansing to compete in the 3rd annual CAAC Conference Championship Tournament. Ionia placed 9th out of 18 schools today. Ionia brought 12 wrestlers to compete today 8 of our wrestlers finished in the top 8 in there weight class and 6 wrestlers finished in top 5 bringing home medals. Senior Nathan Clute had a Great day going 3-1 at 165 lb weight class and taking 2nd place. Sohpmore Sarah Schafer went 2-1 and took 2nd place today at the first CAAC Girls only division part of the tournament. Senior Killian Campbell went 2-1 and took 3rd place today at 144lb weight class. Chase Holford and Hunter barker both came home with a 5th place medal. Chase went 2-1 and Hunter went 4-1. Keagan Lang went 2-2 on the day and placed 7th. Chris Smith went 2-3 and took 8th place.    Your Bulldogs will be back on the mat this week we host Team Districts Wednesday wrestling starts at 6pm. Then travel to Hastings Saturday for Individual Districts. 

Ionia took 5 wrestlers Friday night to compete in the JV conference tournament. There is 19 schools competing Friday night and that made some big brackets. All 5 of Ionia's wrestlers placed in the top 8. Jonathan Rico went 2-2 and took 4th place. Gabe Rogers went 2-1 and took 5th place. Austin Murphy went 3-2 and took 6th place. Logan Rozewski went 1-2 took 7th place. and Aaron Wolthuis took 8th place. 

Ionia's varsity wrestling team traveled to Lansing Everett to wrestle in a double dual vs Everett and St. Johns. Ionia went 1-1 on the night with a win over Everett 67-6  and a loss to St. Johns 48-30. Wrestlers going 2-0 tonight were Killian Campbell, Hunter Barker, Nate Clute, and Chase Holford. Wrestlers also getting a win on the night were wrestlers Ricky Charon, Jackson Gallagher, Logan Rozewski, Levi Scheid, Keagan Lang, Austin Murphy, Victor Ledesma, Landen Steffen, and Chris Smith.    Ionia's dual record is now 12-9 on the season. Your Bulldogs will be back on the mat this weekend at the CAAC conference tournament. Jv wrestles Friday night and varsity wrestles Saturday. 

Ionia had a busy day today wrestling Varsity and JV both at Lakewood High School. Our varsity team took 10 wrestlers and 5 placed in the top 4. Ionia also took 8th out of 13 teams. Senior Nathan Clute and Junior Hunter Barker both came home with 2nd place medal both going 2-1. Senior Killian Campbell and Freshman Jackson Gallagher both went 3-1 and brought home a 3rd place medal. Senior Chris Smith tied for 3rd place not able to wrestle the placement round due to wrestling too many matches in a day. Chris worked all the way back to 3rd place going 4-1 on the day.   In the other gym, Ionia had 6 JV wrestlers today. Jonathan Rico and Logan Rozewski both took 1st place. Rico went 5-0 and Logan went 3-0. Aaron Wolthuis, Gabe Rogers, Austin Murphy, and Landen Steffens all took 2nd place. Aaron went 2-1, Gabe went 3-1, Austin and Landen both went 4-1. Ionia had a lot of great wrestling this weekend wrestling over 50 matches and 38 of those matches Ionia came out on the winning side. Your Bulldogs will be back on the mat this Wednesday at Lansing Everett for our last regular season duals of the season. 

Ionia sent 2 girls to Ovid-Elsie Friday night to compete in a girls only varsity tournament; Natalie Fassett and Sarah Schafer. Both girls wrestled very tough and showed huge improvements from our last tournament. Natalie and Sarah both got wins and both placed 4th at the tournament.  Our Girls will wrestle again at the CAAC league tournament next weekend Saturday along with our Varsity Boys at Lansing Eastern. 

Ionia wrestled two great duals tonight. Ionia had 2 big Wins first win over Perry 63-16 and then a win over Leslie 53-21. We were also able to give recognition to our seniors tonight Keagan Lang, Victor Ledesma, Killian Campbell, Nathan Clute, Chase Holford, and Chris Smith.  Wrestlers going 2-0 tonight were Ricky Charon, Jackson Gallagher, Keagan Lang, Bryce Hoppes, Killain Campbell, Hunter Barker, VIctor Ledesma, Nate Clute, and Chase Holford. Also getting a win tonight were wrestlers Levi Scheid, Austin Murphy, Gabe Rogers, and Landen Steffen. Your Bulldogs now have a dual record of 11-8 on the season  and will be back on the mat this Saturday at Lakewood High school wrestling starts at 8:30am.

Ionia Varsity wrestling team came up short tonight wrestling 2 very tough teams Portland and Fowlerville. Ionia started the night out wrestling Portland for our League Championship Ionia lost 59 -15. there were many close matches that could of gone either way, the bulldogs wrestled very tough. Killian Campbell at 144 and Hunter Barker at 150 both won by pin. Nathan Clute Had a great match were we bumped up to wrestle 175 lbs were we beat 12th ranked wrestler in the state from Portland  8-7.  Ionia then went on to wrestle Fowlerville and lost 57 - 15. Nate Clute again up at 175 won his match by pin fall. Wrestlers Ricky Charon, Gabe Rogers and Chris Smith all won matches by decision.  Ionia is now 9-8 on the season and are 3-1 in the Conference. your bulldogs will be back on the mat next Wednesday in Ionia wrestling starts at 6pm. 

Your Ionia Bulldogs placed 5th out of 18 teams today at the Lakeview Wildcat invitational. Ionia took 11 wrestlers and had 5 wrestlers bring home medals. Killian Campbell was the Champion at  the 144 lb weight class today going 3-0. Hunter Barker took 2nd place today at 157lbs going 2-1. Bringing home a 3rd place medal today were wrestlers Chase Holford at 190lbs going 2-1 and Wrestler Jackson Gallagher at 113 lbs going 3-1 on the day. Nate Clute at 165 also brought home a 5th place medal and went 3-1 today. Some other Bulldogs that came just short of getting a medal but still finding some success going 2-2 today were wrestlers Ricky Charon, Levi Schied, and Chris Smith. Keagan Lang also wrestled very tough today and got a win.  Ionia will be back on the mat this Wednesday at Portland High School wrestling starts at 5:30.

Ionia took 2 of are girls to Fowlerville to compete at a Girls only tournament Friday night. Sarah Schafer went 1-2 on the night taking 4th place falling short in her last match to the 5th ranked girl in the state. Natalie Fassett also went 1-2 on the night. Overall the Girls had a great night of wrestling and got some good mat time. Our girls will be back on the mat in 2 weeks. We will travel to Ovid-Elsie on Friday 1/27 to compete in another Girls only tournament.

Ionia Varsity Wrestling team had a big night on the road going 2-0 with big league win to start the night out against Lansing Sexton 54-26. Then beating Williamston in a close dual coming down to the last match with a final score of 40-35. Wrestlers going 2-0 tonight were Ricky Charon, Jackson Gallagher, Killian Campbell, Hunter Barker, Nate Clute, and Landen Steffen. Also getting a win on the night were wrestlers Levi Schied, Gabe Rogers, Austin Murphy, Victor Ledesma, Sarah Schafer, and Chase Holford. Ionia will be taking our Girl  wrestlers to Fowlerville to compete in our first girls only tournament of the season, and our Varsity will travel to Lakeview Saturday for an individual tournament.  Your bulldogs are now 9-6 on the season and 3-0 in the League. We will travel to Portland Next Wednesday for the League Championship. 

Ionia Varsity Wrestling team placed 4th out of 9 teams today at the Hastings Individual tournament. Ionia had 15 wrestlers competing today, and 7 Bulldogs placed in the top 4 coming home with medals. Out of the 7 medalists Ionia came home with one champion Hunter Barker at 150 pound weight class pinning his way through the tournament and going 3-0. We had 3 wrestlers take 2nd place: Freshman Jackson Gallagher at 113 pounds, Senior Nathan Clute at 165 pounds, and Senior Chase Holford at 190 pounds. Chris Smith at Heavy Weight went 3-1 today bringing home a 3rd place medal, and both of our 106 pounders placed today: Ricky Charon took 3rd and Aaron Wolthuis Came home with a 4th place medal. Also getting a win on the day were wrestlers Austin Murphy and Gabe Rogers. Ionia will back on the mat this Wednesday where we return to Lansing Eastern to wrestle Lansing Sexton and Williamston. Wrestling starts at 5:30!

Ionia Varsity Wrestling team went 2-0 at Lansing Eastern Tonight. Starting the night out with a league win over Eaton Rapids 42-34. Then a win over Lansing Eastern 54-24. Wrestlers going 2-0 tonight were Keagan Lang, Killian Campbell, Hunter Barker, Landen Steffen, Chase Holford, and Chris Smith. Other wrestlers getting a win tonight were wrestlers Ricky Charon, Jackson Gallagher, Gabe Rogers, Austin Murphy, Nate Clute, Jonathan Rico, Natalie Fassett and Logan Rozewski. Your bulldogs are now 7-6 on the dual season and 2-1 in conference duals. Ionia will be back on the mat this Saturday at Hastings High School for there Individual tournament. wrestling starts at 9:30 am 

Ionia took 4th place out of 10 teams today at our annual Mike Adamson Wrestling tournament. Ionia had 18 wrestlers competing today and 7 wrestlers placed in the top 4. We had 4 wrestlers take 2nd place today going 4-1 were wrestlers Jackson Gallagher at 113 lbs, Killian Campbell at 144 lbs, Hunter Barker at 150 lbs and Nate Clute at 165 lbs. We had 3  wrestlers take 4th place going 3-2 were wrestlers Jack Gardner at 132lbs, Chase Holford at 190 lbs, and Chris Smith at heavy weight. Other wrestlers finding success today going 2-3 today were Levi Scheid, Keagan Lang, and Victor Ledesma. Also getting wins on the day were wrestlers Ricky Charon, Logan Rozewski, Gabe Rogers, and Landen Steffen.    The Ionia wrestling coaching staff would like to thank everyone for helping us run a successful tournament today!  Every year, the coaches from other teams continually tell us that it is extremely well ran and one of the best tournaments they attend during the year. This is only possible because the entire Ionia wrestling family comes together to make it happen!  Thank you to all of the individuals that volunteered their time working at tables, working in the concession stand, running bout sheets, announcing, writing on the charts, the athletic trainer, the tournament administrator, and those that helped with the set-up and cleaning up after the tournament! Your Ionia Bulldogs had a tough day today wrestling at the Ionia County Duals going 0-3 on the day. Ionia Started out wrestling Lakewood first with a final score of 61-12. Ionia then moved on to wrestle Belding falling short with a final score of 51-30. To end the night out Ionia wrestle Portland who ended up winning the tournament today with a final score of  69-12. Hunter Barker Wrestled very well today, our only wrestler of the day to go 3-0 . Senior Nate Clute also had a good day going 2-1. Also Finding success today were wrestlers Ricky Charon, Aaron Wolthuis, Keagan Lang, Killian Campbell, Chase Holford, and Gabe Rogers. Your Bulldogs will be back on the mat next week Friday 12/30/22 for the Mike Adamson Invitation at the Ionia High School wrestling starts at 9am. 

Ionia Varsity Wrestling Team goes 1-1 tonight at our first home dual of the season. Your bulldogs came out tough with a big conference WIN over Charlotte 39-35.Keagan Lang and Killian Campbell both earned pins vs Charlotte. Chase Holford won a tough match at 190 by decision  9-3. Logan Rozewski and Nate Clute also tacked on a couple wins by forfeit. Ionia then fell to Holt with a Score of 58-18. Jackson Gallagher won a big match in overtime at 120 lb weight class, Killian Campbell won a tough match by decision 9-4, and both Hunter Barker and Nate Clute won there matches by pin. Going 2-0 on the night were wrestlers Killian Campbell, Hunter Barker, and Nate Clute. Going 1-1 on the night were wrestlers Logan Rozewski, Jackson Gallagher, Keagan Lang, and Chase Holford.    Your Bulldogs are now 5-3 on the season and 1-0 in the Conference. We will be back on the mat next week Wednesday at Lakewood High School for the All County Tournament. Wrestling is planned to start at 1pm. 

Ionia varsity wrestling team traveled to Delton-Kellogg today to compete in a team tournament. The team finished with a record of 2-2 earning a 3rd place finish. Our bulldogs wrestled very tough today with everyone coming home with at least one win on the day. Wrestler Killian Campbell went 4-0 at 144 pound wt class. Wrestlers going 3-1 were Logan Rozewski at 113, Keagan Lang at 126, Hunter Barker at 150, Nate Clute at 175, and Chase Holford at 190. Wrestlers going 2-2 were Jackson Gallagher at 120, Bryce Hoppes at 132, Victor Ledesma at 157, and Chris Smith at heavy weight. Other bulldogs finding success today were Ricky Charon at 106, Jack Gardner at 138, and John Rico at 215.  Ionia was fortunate enough to be able to send a squad down to Delton Friday night to compete in a JV individual tournament. It was a long night on the mat with some tough wrestling from our bulldogs. Ionia sent 9 wrestlers down Friday: Aaron Wolthius, Gabe Rogers, Austin Murphy, Natalie Fasset, Dalton Lewis, Landen Steffens, Sarah Schafer, and Jay Ledesma. We all had a lot of fun and got some great experience. Wrestlers going 2-0 on the night were Gabe Rogers, and Landen Steffens. Also finding success on the night were wrestlers Aaron Wolthius and Natalie Fasset.  After today, the varsity wrestling teams record is now 4-2 on the season. Your Bulldogs will be back on the mat this Wednesday at the Ionia High School with our first CAAC match up of the season against Charlotte. Wrestling starts at 6pm. 

Ionia Varsity Wrestling Team started the season out 2-0 tonight at East Lansing. Our 1st victory was against Haslet, with a score of 60-12. The Bulldogs then continued on to beat East Lansing 54-25. Going 2-0 on the night were wrestlers Ricky Charon at 106lbs, Logan Rozewski at 113 lbs, Bryce Hoppes at 132lbs, Jack Gardner at 138lbs, Killian Campbell at 144lbs, Nate Clute at 175lbs, and Chase Holfrod at 190 lbs. Wrestlers going 1-1 tonight were Jackson Gallagher at 120lbs, Hunter Barker at 150lbs, Tyler Brown at 157 lbs, John Rico at 215lbs and Chris Smith at heavy weight.  Also getting to wrestle some exhibition matches tonight were Levi Scheid going 2-0, Aaron Wolthius going 1-0, Austin Murphy going 1-0, Landen Steffins going 1-0, and Sadie Roberts going 1-0. Your Ionia Bulldogs will be back on the mat this weekend at Delton Kellogg with the JV wrestlers competing Friday night, and the varsity wrestlers competing Saturday morning.
